| Author Profile | RITA MAE BROWN Born just north of the Mason-Dixon line in Pennsylvania horse country, Rita Mae Brown is a skilled rider and huntsman (but don?t fret?the Oak Ridge, Virginia, Fox Hunt Club does not kill the critters!). Besides breaking ground in feminist literature back in the 1970s with The Hand That Cradles the Rock (a book of poetry) and Rubyfruit Jungle (a novel), she also founded the Blue Ridge Polo Club, the first women-only polo club in America (though she no longer plays). With a PhD from New York University, Brown has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, a political activist in the women?s and gay rights movements and has received Emmy®s for her work in Hollywood. But her true loves are writing mysteries and rescuing and finding homes for cats, dogs, foxes and horses. (By the way, Sneaky Pie was a rescue, to the world?s great delight!) Titles by This Author
