Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series details the forbidden romance between a young woman and her vampire boyfriend, and it has turned the Phoenix, AZ native into a literary phenomenon rivaling Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling in popularity. Meyer says the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream. And though she hadn't written much before, the novel was finished three months later. And the rest is history. The first three Twilight novels-Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse-spent a combined total of over 140 weeks on the New York Times best seller list, sold over 5 million copies and even bumped the current Potter book off the top spot. A Meyer appearance inevitably turns into a “happening,” complete with readers dressed as the books' characters, fan fiction, even Twilight-themed rock bands. The fourth Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, came out in August 2008, closely following The Host, Meyer's first non-vampire novel (though it does have parasitic aliens). Titles by This Author
